One of the most all-american aspirations is to be independent and self-sufficient. The "self-made" man who encapsulates the "american dream" is the stuff of legends and the admiration of others. But there's a seeming conflict when it comes to living our lives as Jesus-followers. If Jesus is the one calling the shots, what happens to my drive to be in charge? This Sunday, February 3rd, we'll take some time to do some self-evaluation. Who is the boss of your life right now? Have you pushed Jesus off of the throne? How is that working out for you? What might it look like if you relinquished control to Jesus in all areas? Immerse: KingdomsOur Covenant Community Bible Reading Experience continues this month as we read through the second volume of the Immerse Readeing Bible: Kingdoms. Starting on February 11th, we'll be reading around 10 pages a day/5 days each week for 8 weeks during which time we'll have read the books of Joshua, Judges, Ruth, Samuel and Kings. As we did this past Fall while reading through Immerse: Beginnings, small groups will meet to discuss what we've read in a "book club" format and the sermons will be based on a portion from the previous week's readings. Copies of Immerse: Kingdoms are available at the church for a $5 donation. You can also purchase e-reader versions on Amazon for $10. There is also a free audio podcast - just search for "Immerse: Kingdoms" and you can listen to the readings as you read along or while doing other activities.
