One of the topics that is rarely discussed in most churches is the area of sex. It's not because the topic is irrelevant to our lives or that the Bible has nothing to say about it. In fact it's just the opposite. I think the main reason is that it's such a personal part of our lives AND so many of us struggle with it in one way or another. As we continue welcoming Jesus into every part of our lives, we come this week to the bedroom. What does it mean to welcome Him to renovate the way we think and act in regards to sexuality? That's what we'll be considering this Sunday, February 25th. I hope you'll be able to join us. Yippee Ki Yi Yay - It's the CHIC Chuckwagon! This Saturday evening, February 24th, CCC will transform into a wild west gathering of cowboys and cowgirls! Join us at 6:00 pm for a lip-smackin' dinner of pulled pork and all the trimmin's followed by plenty of games, laughs and surprises with a western flare. This event is a fund raiser for the 9 teens and adults who will be heading to Knoxville, TN this coming July for the national Covenant CHIC 2018 conference. Suggested donations for the dinner and fun is $10 for Adults and $5 for Kids, but please don't let the cost keep you from joining in on the fun! We'll be happy to receive any donation amount - just be there! So pull on your boots and mosey on down to the CHIC CHUCKWAGON! Rest and recreation are important parts of a healthy life rhythm. Not only does it provide a chance to catch your breath, it also allows your body, mind and spirit to recharge and be more productive. My body has forced me into a lower gear over the past three weeks as I've been slowly recovering from this nasty bug that's been going around. Even now I'm having to limit the amount of talking and activity I do if I want to have any voice at all. Did you realize that God wants us to enjoy times of rest and recreation as a regular part of our lives? He established the Sabbath day of rest as one of the 10 Commandments in order to force the Israelites to take a break as they appreciate God's presence in their lives. The thing we too often don't consider is whether our choices in the area of recreation and entertainment are building up or tearing down our relationship with Jesus. After all, Jesus wants to inhabit the Rec Room of our heart just as he inhabits all of the other rooms. And when his Extreme Makeover is complete, we will be able to experience the abundant life he's promised us! I hope you'll be able to join us this Sunday, February 18, as we continue our tour through the various rooms of our lives and invite Jesus to remake them. The daily grind of job, school, and household chores can really get us down at times. Probably the last thing we tend to think about is that Jesus wants to be a part of our work lives. But that is exactly where he wants to partner with you! Have you ever considered that the place you work and the people you interact with are God's assignment and mission field for you? The people you sit next to in class are in need of Christ's presence in their lives that you can bring to them. The neighbors you run into while running errands are longing for hope and meaning that Jesus offers to everyone. This Sunday, February 11th, we'l be continuing with our series: "Extreme Makeover: Heart Edition" as we welcome Jesus into our Workshop. What might it look like to bring Jesus on the job with us? I hope you'll be able to join us. CHIC 2018 Fund Raiser EventSaturday evening, February 24th, CCC will transform into a wild west gathering of cowboys and cowgirls!
