There's an old saying that goes, "You can't have your cake and eat it, too." It simply means that sometimes you have to choose between two things. The problem is that there are times when we don't want to make that "either/or" choice. I don't want to choose between the cake and the pie for dessert - just give me a slice of each! When it comes to living in a right relationship with God, many people want to accept the free gift of salvation through Jesus, but then live according to following rules. Since life is full of "getting what you deserve" in the form of grades, raises, and awards, it's only natural that we would think that this is the way that God works. However, it's a good thing he doesn't! If we had to earn God's favor by following the rules and being good enough, we'd be out of luck. As Paul writes in Galatians 3:10 But those who depend on the law to make them right with God are under his curse, for the Scriptures say, “Cursed is everyone who does not observe and obey all the commands that are written in God’s Book of the Law.” If we base our relationship with God on our behavior, we'll never make it. But what might it look like to let go of living by "the rules" and simply live by trusting in Jesus? That's what we'll be talking about this Sunday, May 13th, as we continue in our Galatians series, "Set Free". I hope you'll be able to join us! A BIG THANK YOU!!!Our students cannot thank you enough for your support of our fund raisers over the past few months. With your generous help we were able to raise over $8000 which will enable our group to attend the CHIC Conference in Knoxville, TN, this coming July! We're very excited and can't wait for all that God has in store for us during this once in a lifetime experience. Thank you so much and please continue to pray for our group as we prepare.
