Rest and recreation are important parts of a healthy life rhythm. Not only does it provide a chance to catch your breath, it also allows your body, mind and spirit to recharge and be more productive. My body has forced me into a lower gear over the past three weeks as I've been slowly recovering from this nasty bug that's been going around. Even now I'm having to limit the amount of talking and activity I do if I want to have any voice at all. Did you realize that God wants us to enjoy times of rest and recreation as a regular part of our lives? He established the Sabbath day of rest as one of the 10 Commandments in order to force the Israelites to take a break as they appreciate God's presence in their lives. The thing we too often don't consider is whether our choices in the area of recreation and entertainment are building up or tearing down our relationship with Jesus. After all, Jesus wants to inhabit the Rec Room of our heart just as he inhabits all of the other rooms. And when his Extreme Makeover is complete, we will be able to experience the abundant life he's promised us! I hope you'll be able to join us this Sunday, February 18, as we continue our tour through the various rooms of our lives and invite Jesus to remake them. Don't miss out on the CHIC Chuckwagon!Saturday evening, February 24th, CCC will transform into a wild west gathering of cowboys and cowgirls! Join us at 6:00 pm for a lip-smackin' dinner of pulled pork and all the trimmins followed by plenty of games, laughs and surprises with a western flare. This event is a fund raiser for the 9 teens and adults who will be heading to Knoxville, TN this coming July for the national Covenant CHIC 2018 conference. Suggested donations for the dinner and fun is $10 for Adults and $5 for Kids. So pull on your boots and mosey on down to the CHIC CHUCKWAGON! Comments are closed.
